What is Atlassian Government Cloud?

Atlassian Government Cloud is Atlassian's move to solve the Data Center to Cloud migration challenges for government agencies. It's an alternative cloud offering, designed to meet federal security standards, with Atlassian bearing the cost of making that cloud environment FedRAMP authorised. This new cloud environment is hosted on US servers and has achieved FedRAMP Moderate Authorisation, giving you peace of mind.
But, there's still one small catch: most Marketplace apps aren't Atlassian Government Cloud-ready, so you still miss out on some of the best parts of Jira Cloud!
However, we thought that government users like you shouldn't have to choose between compliance and being able to manage your projects in the best way possible.
So, we got Hierarchy for Jira approved for use in Atlassian Government Cloud!

Hierarchy for Jira is now Atlassian Government Cloud-ready! Here's how...

One of the biggest concerns for government agencies? Data leakage. That's why Hierarchy for Jira has zero data egress except for explicitly marked analytics.
What does this mean in practice? It means your data stays safe and secure, contained within your Atlassian Government Cloud environment.
We don't send your data to undisclosed third-party services, external databases, or mysterious external endpoints. The only exception is basic product analytics to track feature usage, app performance tracking, and error tracking—so we can make sure they don't happen again!
Our analytics have all been explicitly declared to Atlassian for full transparency and approval, so you can be confident knowing your data isn't ending up anywhere it shouldn't.

So, what's the catch? There isn't one!
Every single Hierarchy for Jira feature works identically on Atlassian Government Cloud as it does on our regular Jira Cloud app. We didn't create a watered-down 'government edition' with half of the features greyed out.
You get all of the powerful features you'd expect:

Who can use Hierarchy for Jira on Atlassian Government Cloud?

If you're approved to use Atlassian Government Cloud, you can use Hierarchy for Jira.
That includes:
  • Federal agencies.
  • State and local government.
  • Approved government contractors.
  • Approved educational institutions with federal contracts.
To get started with the app, you'll need to reach out to Atlassian or Carahsoft (Atlassian's authorised government reseller) to install it on your Atlassian Government Cloud instance.

Important compliance information

Hierarchy for Jira is available to use within Atlassian's FedRAMP-authorised Government Cloud environment. While the platform itself holds FedRAMP Moderate Authorisation, individual Marketplace apps (including ours) are not separately FedRAMP certified.
What this means for you:

  • Your data remains in a secure, compliant infrastructure.
