Built for regulated environments, Immutable Ledger for Jira adds cryptographic integrity to audit logs, helping organisations strengthen compliance and trust.
Compliance is now a foundational part of our work. Auditing is vital as we navigate data privacy, security, and upcoming AI standards. But it isn't enough to just have an audit trial; we need to ensure the audit itself is secure and cannot be altered or tampered with. In a perfect world, you'd know with mathematical certainty that you have a secure, immutable log that is fully up to date.
Having worked in regulated industries in previous roles, I've experienced these security and privacy concerns first-hand. Now, at Upscale, working on apps to improve how teams use Atlassian Jira, I'm always looking for ways to help organisations store and access critical data more securely, especially where the core product doesn't quite cover everything needed in this area.
This mission led me to the
Atlassian Codegeist hackathon, where my project,
Immutable Ledger for Jira, walked away with a Bonus Prize in the 'Best Runs on Atlassian' track! 🏆
When flexibility becomes a liability
Jira is an extremely powerful, customisable platform. The organisations we work with at Upscale use it in hundreds of different ways. That's a massive strength, but in regulated industries, that same flexibility can be a liability.
Standard audit logs tell you what happened, but they don't always prove that the log itself hasn't been modified. Usually, achieving "tamper-proof" status means exporting data to expensive third-party platforms, which pulls you out of the Atlassian ecosystem.
I wanted to close that gap. Immutable Ledger brings cryptographic integrity directly into Jira, creating a verifiable audit trail that proves, not just claims, that your data is original.
The auditor view in Immutable Ledger for Jira
Built for how you want to work
Immutable Ledger for Jira doesn't add another layer of admin or force you into a new tool. It builds on the foundation Jira already provides, so organisations can keep their current processes while giving compliance officers the data integrity they actually need.
Will it make you look forward to audits? Well, that's probably a stretch. But, knowing your logs are cryptographically sound will certainly make you feel better about the prospect, and that in itself is a huge step forward.
I'm excited that it caught the attention of the Codegeist judges, and looking forward to developing it further with the Upscale team to see what more we can achieve. Watch this space for more to come!
